Spicy cumin chicken thighs with green beans

Gambar
Quick to cook and difficult to fail, spicy cumin chicken thighs with green beans is inspired by a popular Chinese street food. An easy pan-fried dish full of flavour.  This is not a classic Chinese dish, but inspired by a popular street food I used to have back in my home province of Gansu, in China. It’s called Yang Rou Chuan In my recipe, I use both cumin powder and whole cumin seeds, the same for chilli too (both powder and flakes). This helps to maximize the fragrance of the spices, and to create an appealing finished look. If you are not accustom to very hot food, please feel free to reduce the amount of chilli powder and flakes (or use milder ones). However, I wouldn’t suggest reducing the cumin as it’s really the soul of this dish. CANDIED PECANS

Gambar
Unlike the most Candied Pecans which are usually hard coated, these are light and covered with powdered sugar. They’re more addicting than potato chips, and make a great gift! These have practically become a permanent fixture in my house. Seriously. I’ve lost count of how many batches I have made…and how many people have become indebted to me by leaving them on the counter top, greeting friends and family as they walk through the door. Like most pralines, they’re best warm from the oven. But I’ve doubled the recipe and stored them for weeks – hiding them from Paul and the kids, which is the only way they will last that long – still fantastic. Make a batch for yourself. Or even better, for the loved ones in your life. A cup of these in a cellophane bag, with a cute ribbon as holiday gifts, and everyone will be indebted to you. These Candied Pecans are an easy and fantastic treat for parties, holidays, or gifts. INGREDIENTS • 3 egg whites • 1 teaspoon vanilla • 1 cup granulated sugar • 1...
